Mission Statement
Gateway Perinatal Services (G.P.S.) exists to provide knowledge, resources, and perinatal support to all women of childbearing age and their partners before, during, and after pregnancy to improve their likelihood of having healthy pregnancies and delivering healthy babies. Our services are provided in a culturally positive environment that promotes healthy maternal and paternal behaviors.
Focus
All women of childbearing age. WAWI, in partnership with G.P.S. (Gateway To Perinatal Services) & Trinity Medical Transport Foundation 501c3, a U.S. based nonprofit, will provide knowledge, resources, and perinatal support to all women of childbearing age before, during, and after pregnancy to improve their likelihood of having healthy pregnancies and delivering healthy babies. Services will be provided through the Gateway Perinatal Services project and will cover:
Impact
30,000 Kern births between U.S. & Uganda Africa births
G.P.S. will target all women of childbearing age and their partners . According to the Maternal and Infant Health Assessment (MIHA) Survey, 2013-2015 births were 13,800 throughout Kern County and 300,000 in the G.P.S service areas including Uganda Africa.
Value Statement
All women of childbearing age and their family should have knowledge of and access to perinatal care services that will increase their chances of having a healthy and vibrant pregnancy, child birth, and postnatal experience.
Service Delivery Model
Maternal Behavioral Health
Under the care of the Maternal Health Professional, G.P.S. will deliver behavioral health screenings, one-one counseling services, and group meetings.

II) Cervical and breast cancer
III) Managing pregnancy, birth and after birth, causes of maternal mortality and how it can be addressed
IV) Child care especially, breast feeding, nutrition, immunization and awareness about the causes of child mortality for children less than five years
V) Work life balance
Nurse Consultation
Under the care of the Registered Nurse, G.P.S. will identify health risks and provide evidence-based nursing interventions; and passionately advocate for all mothers to receive the best care possible, during, and after delivery of the baby.
Case Management
Under the care of three Community Health Specialists, G.P.S. will deliver assistance with prenatal appointments; nutrition guidance; family planning; lactation assistance; transportation; temporary shelter; referral to WIC services as needed; domestic violence assistance as needed; and more.
